- Lene Lovich: United States to England Lovich's outsider themes in her music may be because where she lived. Lene Lovich is a Detroit native, but as a teenager, her and her mother moved to England.
- Billy Idol: England to United States to England As a toddler, Billy Idol's family moved them to Long Island. The stay was short though, returning to England several years later.
- Annabelle Lwin: Myanmar to England The frontwoman of Bow Wow Wow was born in Burma (now Myanmar). As a child, her and her family moved to England.
- Ari Up: Germany to England A similar situation to Annabelle in that Ari of the Slits moved as a child. Ari was born in Germany but soon moved to England.
- Ivan Doroschuk: United States to Canada The frontman of the most successful Canadian new wave band was actually born several hours outside of Chicago. Her mother was a Quebec native who moved them back when he was still a young child.
- 2-Tone Movement: Caribbean to England At least several members of ska revival bands were originally from the Carribean, which played a pivotal role in the style starting. This includes Lynval Goulding and Neville Staple of the Specials, Gaps Hendrickson and Charley Anderson of the Selecter, and Everett Morton of the Beat.
